Don't Forget(we're missing this in mainstream hip hop)

For just a minute let's forget about our favorite rapper, forget about judging artists off what they wear or what trend they follow. I hear all the time "there isn't any good music left out there". At one time, even I agreed to that point. If you haven't checked in already i want to introduce you to Kam Moye aka Superstition, a North Carolina-native that chooses to focus on conceptual songs that offer insight and a first- hand look at his own mistakes and accomplishments. This weekend I had the chance to check " Don't Forget " off his new album " Spitting Image" . This track went straight to my chest when he thanks his lady for being his crutch. If you're like me, you either have this or you wish you did. Songs like this are all to rare in hip hop these days and almost obsolete from mainstream outlets. This is not a " bring hip hop back" or an "eff commercial music" post, but take time, listen, and ask yourself wouldn't you like to hear something that you can relate to at least a few times daily? Clear your mind for a second and let me know what's good. Peace!

The Drake Theory x 2010

Looks like The Drake Theory is holding up.

If 50 & Gucci can barely go gold, what new rapper will ever have a Gold debut again in the history of the world besides Aubrey?

HMMMMMMMMMM...

Lesbi-honest, people. The game will never be the same, so be thankful for REALITY.

Here's to a productive, prosperous and extra plair 2010, folks... If your 2009 wasn't all that, you still have 8 or 9 days to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

Peace.

Mojoe ft. Bavu Blakes "STRANGE REVIVIAL" Video Premiere

I had a really long, thoughtful, damn near poignant post intended to display how I feel about how well this video has been perceived today...but in the end all I could think of was to say: I'm THANKFUL!!!

Watch the video for yourself and if your like it, feel free to share it with someone.  This is how dope music without a major marketing campaign spreads, through the people.

It's 2 years late but THE54REALITYSHOW.COM is LIVE!!!

Well, after 2 years or being a blogspot, and 6 months of the homie @zillz punking me bi-weekly on Gchat, we've finally gotten a PROPER domain name.  We've finally made the big boy jump, and I gotta say its bittersweet right now.  I'm going to miss having to say the arbitrary (dot) blogspot whenever I gave someone the website address, but alas those times are done and with a proper site name comes a new era.

That's right we've opened up the 54 Reality Show blog to contributions from a few folks whose voices/opinions we value in the Central Tx Hip Hop Community.  While this blog will still be the home of the best hip-hop related video blog and its spin off Reality Bytes, we're opening to a few select entities who we know will bring only the BEST music suggestions, video postings, and straight up rants.

If you haven't taken the chance to follow this blog, add it to your google/blog reader, or simply bookmark it...go ahead and do that now.  We walking down a new path and hoping you come along for the ride....

Alright folks, enough rambling, and just because I don't want to leave y'all without something here is the  FIRST single off of Mojoe's Dirty Genes project.  I was a fan of Mojoe before this video, but when I saw this I knew they were extra major.  I think this song, well in my opinion, is the true essence of the Mojoe sound...soulful, rugged, and real.  Check this out, then bring yo ass BACK here on Monday December 21st to watch their newest video "Strange Revival."

Mojoe "Strange Revival" Video Trailer & MP3 Download

Today Dookie Vizion Productions releases the trailer to the Mojoe ft. Bavu Blakes "Strange Revival" video.  While we were doing the video shoot, Mojoe with a few key members of their live band just started freestyling right there on the street.  We took a second to catch them in their purest form, just creating something soulful from scratch.

How we came to shoot this video still amazes me.  We've bumped into the Mojoe cats a few times through the last few years, nothing more than really a handshake or dap in passing.  G-Christ even has knowledge of seeing them back in S.A. during their early beginnings.  I remember Bavu held a show at Club 115 with them on the bill.  We walked about 2 or so miles from where we parked, include a tipsy walk back on legs tired from dancing all night, and it was worth every minute.

Earlier this year Mojoe was back in town opening up for Mayer Hawthorne, so we went to check it out.  I'd mentioned this video treatment to Bavu before, without much thought to it becoming a reality since the Album had been out so long and neither Tre nor Easy Lee lived in the area anymore.  After the show we were chopping it up, and I mentioned to Easy the ideas I had, and he seemed interested.  We exchanged info, but I still thought it was just wishful thinking, well thats till I got a call a few days later from Easy ready to pull the trigger.

Make sure you download the song, "Strange Revival" produced by S1 of Strange Fruit Project, off Mojoe's Dirty Genes album available on Itunes and get ready for the final video to drop 12.21.09!

54 Reality Show 12-07 GetBack Special Pt. 2

Back again with the second part of the Getback Special, is the 54 Reality Show.  What can I say, its been a wild past month.  Since you last saw us we've done two album releases, one going away party, interviewed J. Cole, shot a strange video revival,  and even opened for Del The Funky Homosapien.

I'm not going to even try listing the everything that went on.  Why should I, when you can just watch it hear live and direct on the 54 Reality Show?
