This is a hip-hop blog, I know that, but while I'm sitting around with my pitbull waiting on the Random Axe to drop on the world I just had to say something. It's a lot of soft, extra HEmotional rap being spread like a virus out there, but I figured I shine some light on some sensitive stuff that is SUPPOSED to be that way.
First off I gotta say, I kinda got missed by the whole trend of having a English woman with the whole throwback R&B style. I could care less about Amy Winehouse, give me Sharon Jones. I liked Adele's "Chasing Pavements," but it was more of a fascination with the amazing production. I thought her voice was cool, but I didn't take it any farther than just bumping Pavements whenever it came on.
Flash forward to the Misses asking me to get her some new music for the iPod, and Adele - 21 being on the list. I got plenty of stuff on my iPod I never really check for, and I figured hey why not throw it on mine just to have. One day we're riding, enjoying the scenery and my hip-hop playlist just wasn't cutting it. I switched it over to 21 and was instantly blown away. The production is EPIC on this project, from big booming instrumentation to the minimal piano solo. What really caught me, though, is this young womans voice. This girl can sing, plain and simple. I'm not going to review the album, just know that its filled with awesomeness, and I would suggest you adding it to your playlist, if you haven't already.
